The Villa Victoria (then called Villa Kurhaus) was built in 1874 as a dépendance of the Hotel Kurhaus right next door - by a very famous Swiss architect who had built pretty much every palazzo of the Russian nobility in St. Petersburg. The villa was used to accommodate very special guests of the hotel - which is meant to mean a lot, as rows and rows of crowned heads of half of Europe were in and out of the hotel next door.
There is a rumour that Queen Victoria also resided here (hence the name Villa Victoria). And that during silent full moon nights, the tall figure of John Brown, Queen Victoria's devoted Scottish servant, can still be seen wandering around the villa cutting flowers for his Queen. Well. This is not scientifically proven. What is certain, however, is that today people seeking for adventures and those looking for recreation, and families too, are welcome at Villa Victoria. And that their children's eyes are more likely to see Villa Victoria as Villa Kunterbunt.
